Cast

LUKE CARROLL (EDDIE)LUKE CARROLL
Luke plays Eddie a young, proud black man, but with...ahem...rather light coloured skin. Perhaps due to his feelings of being ‘not black enough', Eddie's greatest fixation is his culture. His focus on culture gives him a sense of belonging and identity. Eddie's spiritual affinity with his roots adds to his good nature, he is always striving to help others and do the right thing. Despite all this, Eddie is sometimes led astray and through his journey, he learns to accept himself, making him strong enough to forge a steady path in life.

Luke has gathered a remarkable range of credits and experiences after beginning his career at a very tender age. Nominated for AFI Awards in 2002 for ‘Best Supporting Actor' in Australian Rules, and in 2006 for Best Supporting Actor in a TV series for R.A.N, Luke also went on to win ‘Best Actor' at POV 2003 for his performance in the Short Film Free. Luke's film credits also include The Tender Hook, and Children Of The Revolution. He has recently filmed episodes in Home and Away for Channel Seven, worked with Catherine Freeman in Going Bush for SBS and starred in The Alice for the Nine Network.

LEON BURCHILL (CHARLIE)LEON BURCHILL
Leon plays Charlie a happy-go-lucky (and often lucky) party boy. Sex, drugs and rock'n'roll seem to be all that is ever on his mind. Charlie is a superficial, selfish being, but the problem is, no one ever cracks the surface and as a result, deep down he feels alone in a crowd. But Charlie has a big heart, and when it comes to the crunch, he is fiercely loyal to those whom he cares about.

Leon graduated from NIDA in 2005. His theatre credits include Cosi, Grazing the Phosphorous, One Man's Funk, The Seagull and A Midsummer's Night Dream. Leon has also been involved in a number of short films including Lacey, Alacart, Koori's in the Mist and Out at Sea.

PETER PHELPS (MARK, THE NEW AGE COP)PETER PHELPS
Peter plays Mark, an outback cop who believes he is a black man trapped inside a white man's body and as we discover, he's on a spiritual journey of his own.

Recently featured in the second series of Underbelly, Peter is a popular Australian TV star, probably best known for his lead role in the drama, Stingers. While Peter's credits include many of Australia's major TV series over the last 25 years, he has also garnered a significant track record in feature films, from Playing Beatie Bow, and Media World's Zone 39, to Lantana, Ned Kelly, and The Square. In 1992 He won an Australian Film Institute Best Actor award for a guest role in GP.

DAVID PAGE (REGINA AKA REGGIE)DAVID PAGE
David plays Regina (born Reginald), Eddie and Charlie's cross dressing cousin whose dreams of making it big on “that Koorri Idol show” are being thwarted by a white manager and an identity crisis.

David, award winning resident composer for the Bangarra Dance Theatre, grew up as an all-dancing, all-singing child star, who before his voice broke, scored two top 10 hits and appeared on Countdown and The Paul Hogan Show. A drag artiste, and successful playwright/stage actor, David started acting for film in Warwick Thornton's acclaimed short Green Bush.

VALENTINO DEL TORO (VINNIE)VALENTINO DEL TORO
Valentino plays Vinnie an Italian rock star marooned in the desert by his heavy metal band, and a broken down Hyundai. A “seriously good smoker”, and an expert on everything, including love, Vinnie helps Charlie come to grips with his “demon”.

Valentino's recent feature credits include Fool's Gold and Gabriel, while his TV credits include The Strip, All Saints, Sea Patrol and Two Twisted.

MARY G AKA MARK BIN BARKAR (AUNTY CAROL)MARY G AKA MARK BIN BARKAR
Mary plays the feisty Aunty Carol, determined to see her daughter's marriage proceed, despite the intervention of a dynamite‐wielding Uncle. But Aunty Carol's apparently tough, no nonsense approach masks a secret... her longing for a “Blackman”.

Mary G, the Black Queen of the Kimberley, was a radio show presenter before hosting her own national TV Variety show – The Mary G Show. Annoyed by those critics who refer to her, as being Dame Edna's distant black cousin, Mary has become a cultural icon in her own right. (Mary G is also known as entertainer/comedian/activist Mark Bin Barkar, Western Australian of the Year 2007.)
